What incentives or tax deductions exist for self-consumption?+

How long does it take to pay back a solar installation?+

What is a microinverter?+

A microinverter is a small electronic device located under each solar panel. Its main job is to convert the direct current (DC) electricity generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) that can be used directly in the house or exported to the grid.

In three-phase installations, can the surplus be split by phase?+

Each microinverter is a single-phase device. Three-phase installations are built with single-phase microinverters distributed across the phases, and export limiting controls consumption on each phase using the control system's current transformers.

How is excess solar production controlled?+

The system offers export control by reducing energy output at each microinverter to keep exports at a defined level, which can be zero for a zero-export installation.

How has the system performed in Spain's high summer temperatures?+

How can a system fault be detected?+

All installed AC modules are connected to the internet, which activates the microinverter's 25-year warranty and sends data to the Enphase Enlighten platform, from where Solarlife receives alerts for any faulty equipment.

If an issue is identified, does Solarlife need to replace the whole panel?+

No. The microinverter can be removed from the solar module so each component can be repaired separately.

If one panel fails, does the rest of the installation keep producing energy?+

Yes. If the microinverter (or its associated solar module) fails, only that module shuts down and the rest of the system keeps running normally — a key benefit of AC modules.

Is the AC solution compatible with storage solutions? What type of storage?+

AC solutions are compatible with AC-coupled energy storage solutions. Using Enphase Storage you can see energy flows in Enlighten. With another brand, you'll need its own app.

How much more reliable is using multiple microinverters than a string inverter?+

A string inverter has a single point of failure: if it fails, the whole array goes offline. With microinverters, each module has its own dedicated inverter and only that module disconnects if it fails. Enphase microinverters have a publicly stated return rate of 0.05% (1 in 2000) and an estimated service life of over 25 years, compared to around 10 years for a string inverter.

What is the advantage of AC modules compared to optimisers?+

The AC solution offers higher performance, an easier and faster installation, and greater flexibility, plus advantages in reliability, shade management and low-light energy response.
